travels thru Kansas...

We stayed at the Goodland, KS - KOA on Sunday.  The camp owners are Polish immigrants living the American dream.  She makes and serves cabbage rolls to your door for dinner if needed.  People specifically stay there just for them, according to the owner.  She made us a pancake and bacon breakfast and was very interesting to talk to.  The campground was immaculate, with only the two of them doing the work.  It was nice to see pride in ownership.

We left Goodland and continued east, travelling about 240 miles to end up in a state park in Webber, KS, called Lovewell.  The place was packed with Labor Day weekenders so we were happy they had two spots to choose from, as we were short on gas and our energy spent.  We took a refreshing dip in the reservoir and had a big salad for dinner.

In the morning, we headed to the nearest town just north in Sterling, Nebraska.  We got our gas and took a short look around the town.  Then headed back to the highway 36 east to start our 234 mile jaunt to Wallace State Park in Cameron, MO.  These state parks are amazing.  They are clean, beautifully wooded, and cheap!  For about $20 a night we get partial hookups, clean free showers and dumping!  We're not in CA anymore or that would have cost $90!  Tomorrow, we are headed to Illinois, to visit Glenn Raines, an Air Force buddy of Ron's, and his wife Linda.

Lunch break on the road in Kansas.  Tito looking for a good spot!
