Visiting with Glenn and Linda...

Our first destination to visit an old friend was a special stop, better told by Ron...

This was a visit that was way overdue. Glenn and I were stationed together in the Air Force in the late sixties early seventies. He was a farmer from a family farm in Kansas and I was from the big city. We came from much different environments and clicked with each other from the start. I had never met  anyone like him and I he really found me amusing. We spent much time together during our time in service and became close friends. He spent time with my family and friends as we had great times while stationed at San Bernardino AFB. When we were discharged he went home and the years flew by. We kept in touch, but some times years would pass between phone calls. He and his wife Linda came to Anaheim Ca. for a convention in the early eighties so we had an opportunity to spend some time visiting. That was the last time we saw each other until this trip. As Teresa and I planned this cross country trip, a stop in Mt. Sterling, Ill. was the first thing we thought about. We only spent a couple of days with them and it wasn't enough. We could not catch up on all those years in that short of time, but I am so glad we spent time with them. Still much different, but still great friends. He and Linda live outside a town of 1500 people, down a farm road, with no close neighbors. Spending time in their home was truly a great experience that we will never forget. We will miss them but will plan to meet them in Texas where they spend winter every year, before too many years pass.

Beautiful state

We tried to get an oil change in town, Glenn stepped up and got it done!

Sunset over the Illinois River

Nice dinner out with Glenn and Linda

They humored Teresa with a Quilt Barn, owners very nice to meet and welcoming.
