Mt. Washington NH

Got a tip from the KOA people that we HAD to go to Mount Washington.  It is the highest peak in New England and boasts some history as having had the highest wind recorded back in 1934 at 231 mph.  We took the self guided tour that came with a CD to play as you drive up to the peak with the story behind the road and mountain.  It was the scariest road EVER!  I was nearly in tears at some points.  It was a very narrow, two lane road, with an average of a 12% grade, with sheer drops (on my side of the car of course)!  I survived and it ended up being a very enjoyable day, the weather was perfect and the visibility at the top was said to be 90 miles in any direction.

More trees along the way up to Mt. Washington

Start of the road up to the peak, the rest of the way I couldn't let go of my death grip long enough to take more pictures!

View from the peak

Later, back at camp, Ron took some photos of our view at dusk
